Photography Class (for women only) Taught by JoAnne Kalish

These photography classes (For Women Only) are the perfect classes for women who want to take their photography further in a nurturing and supportive environment. Share experiences, make friends and learn how to go beyond the basics to develop your personal style. 

Each participant receives one-on-one attention to answer questions, review work, pointers to improve your photography and to encourage creativity. 

Class One: Saturday May 18th   TIME: 10:00am-4:00pm   COST: $210.00

DETAILS: This class is ideal for women photographers who want to review all the foundation concepts of photography and then explore the creative use of these concepts to improve the final product. This class is designed for the beginner to intermediate level photographers. Concepts covered will be:
  • F-Stops
  • Shutter Speeds
  • Depth of Field
  • Exposure
  • Freezing Action
  • Capturing Motion
  • Info on ISO settings, understanding histograms, exposure compensation
  • Quality of light and composition
Using the camera to create images that go beyond the documentary mode is one of the main objectives of this class. Learn the difference between a snapshot, taking a picture and making a photograph. The 1st class will take place in the DiMaggio/Kalish Learning Center (Upper Delaware) and will consist of a Portfolio Review, Lecture, Discussion and Pointers on how to make your photographs better. 

Class Two - Saturday June 15th
TIME: 10:00am-4:00pm
COST: $210.00, Sign up for the second class after you've already taken the first class, cost is $189

DETAILS: This class will go out into the countryside to various locations so that participants can focus on bettering their photography. Afterwards everyone will return to the Learning Center to download their work, edit and have a class review

Class Three - To Be Determined
TIME: 10:00am-4:00pm
COST: $225.00, Sign up for the second class after you've already taken the first class, cost is $202
DETAILS: The third class will further your skills as a photographer and focus on shooting portraits. Learn how to make better portraits by going outdoors to employ very simple tricks of the trade. Learn about fill flash, reflectors and working with light. The same day portraits will be made in the studio using simple, straight forward lighting set-ups. We will discuss how to photograph different types of people and more than one person. You will learn what type of light works best when photographing a child, woman or man. In addition, we will learn how to shoot more than one person at a time to handle a group portrait.
